A modern vision with timeless sensibility. For centuries, the top hat has been a mark of distinguishment and class among discerning gentlemen, synonymous with Royal Ascot and weddings. The top hat I am sporting is a timeless piece of headwear that has lasted generations having belonged to my Grandfather and there is an inner Hallmark on the lining stating it was made in Leadenhall Street, in the City of London by HM Stanley (Established 1864). My Grandfather was a true horseman and was a Cavalry Officer in The Blues and Royals, part of the Household Cavalry, the second most senior regiment in the British Army that operates as both an armoured reconnaissance unit and a ceremonial guard of the monarch. It felt very avant-garde to flout strict historically gendered dress codes and don a top hat, however I have carefully added a veil to it that adds a delicate touch of elegance, sophistication, and effeminate intrigue to the look. I have also replaced a formal tie with a string of family heirloom pearls in true Vivienne Westwood fashion to juxtapose the strong silhouette of the outfit, that resultantly creates a hint of androgynous charm. This look is a culmination of not only my own British Equestrian Heritage which I am extremely proud of, but also serves as a truly quintessential British outfit that I really hope would have made my Grandfather proud.
